چکیده

A dual rate synchronous DS/CDMA system provides service to low bit rate and high bit rate users. In a fixed duration interval, a low rate user transmits one bit while a high rate user transmits M bits. The differences in the bit transmission rates result in different processing gains for each class of user. In this paper, we propose a decision feedback decorrelator for the dual rate synchronous DS/CDMA system which uses modified correlators and initiates the bit decision process at the end of the high rate bit interval. Every step of the decision process is executed by utilizing the decisions of all previously decoded users. This dual rate decision feedback receiver (evaluated by simulation) is found to outperform two types of decorrelators for dual rate CDMA systems. It is also observed that as the interferers grow stronger relative to the desired user, the performance of the decision feedback receiver for decoding the desired user approaches the single user bound.

A decorrelating decision-feedback detector for dual rate synchronous DS/CDMA communications

|We consider a dual rate synchronous DS/CDMA system in which the length of each signature sequence is inversely proportional to the corresponding data rate. Two types of decorrelators that employ the diierence in processing gains have been proposed: a high-rate decorrelator (HRD) matched to the data rate of the high-rate users, and a low-rate decorrelator (LRD) matched to the data rate of the l...

Decorrelating Detectors for a Dual Rate Synchronous DS/CDMA Channel

This paper addresses the use of decorrelating detectors for a dual rate DS/CDMA system that serves both low bit rate and high bit rate users. All users have the same BPSK modulation technique and the same chip rate. The diierences in bit transmission rates result in diierent processing gains for each class of user. We assume that in an interval of duration T 0 , a low rate user transmits one bi...

Further Results for Multi-rate Decorrelators for Synchronous Ds/cdma Systems

Recently, decorrelator-based receivers have been investigated for demodulating data in a dual-rate synchronous DS/CDMA system. In this paper, the probabilities of error attainable for high-rate and low-rate u...

Performance Comparison of Multiuser Detectors with Channel Estimation for Flat Rayleigh Fading CDMA Channels

Since conventional detector performs poorly in bandwidth-efficient Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems, several multiuser detectors were proposed recently. In this paper, we compare performance of the decorrelator, the two-stage detector (2S), and the decision-feedback detector (DF) for the Rayleigh flat fading synchronous CDMA channel. First, assuming perfect channel estimation, we sh...
